HTS killed Syrian soldiers in Syria’s Idlib: Russian Ministry of Defense
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Russian Ministry of Defense announced, two Syrian government’s soldiers were killed by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, formerly al-Nusra Front) sniper in Idlib, northwest Syria.
“Two Syrian soldiers were killed and another was wounded by HTS sniper in Idlib,” Deputy Head of the Russian Reconciliation Center for Syria, Rear Admiral Vadim Kolet said, in a statement.
Another soldier was wounded in Aleppo governorate by mortar shelling by the militants, the statement added.
The statement indicated that during the past 24 hours, 10 targeting operations were recorded from the HTS’ sites in the de-escalation zone in Idlib.
He added that five of them were monitored in Aleppo, four in Idlib and one in Latakia.
On November 12, the Russian Center announced that HTS conducted nine attacks in the de-escalation zone.
On November 10, The Russian Reconciliation Center announced that a Syrian soldier was shot by a sniper affiliated with HTS in Syria’s northwest city of Idlib.
On November 7, HTS militants conducted five attacks on the de-escalation zone in Idlib, according to the Russian Reconciliation Center for Syria.
Early in October, Russian Ministry of Defense announced that Syrian Civil Defense Organization (White Helmets), which is linked to armed factions operating in Syria, are preparing for a provocative operation in Idlib in order to accuse the Syrian government of conducting attacks.
Although the de-escalation zone in northwest Syria is subject to a Russian-Turkish ceasefire agreement signed in March 2020, the area witnesses frequent mutual bombardment despite the entry of the ceasefire into force.
