Two members of Asayish killed by IED in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, two members of the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) were killed by an improvised explosive device (IED) in a town east of Deir ez-Zor, east Syria. 

Two members of the Asayish were killed and a civilian was wounded in the explosion of an IED that was planted on the side of the main road on the outskirts of the town’s market, North Press reported a source from Hajin town, 110 km east of Deir ez-Zor.

The civilian was accidently close to the site of the explosion when the two Asayish members were riding a motorcycle to their homes after finishing their work, according to the source.

“The two members were transported to the hospital in al-Omar oil field for treatment, but they died of their wounds,” the source added.

The civilian was transferred to al-Kaysoum Hospital in Hajin, and he is in good condition, according to a doctor at the hospital.

On Wednesday morning, a civilian lost his life at the hands of unknown gunmen in an act of revenge in the town of Thiban, east Deir ez-Zor.  

Recently, the countryside of Deir ez-Zor has been witnessing cases of kidnapping and assassination of members of the SDF, employees of the Autonomous Administration, tribal dignitaries and civilians for unknown reasons. The Islamic State organization (ISIS) has claimed responsibility for most of these cases.
