QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Military sites of Iranian-backed factions in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria, were subjected to air strikes at dawn on Wednesday.
Local sources told North Press that separate government-held areas in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, such as Baghouz and Gharanij were subjected to aerial bombardment.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) attributed the source of the bombing to unidentified aircraft that targeted sites and weapons depots belonging to Iranian factions in the town of al-Bukamal, near the Syrian-Iraqi border.
The air strikes led to the destruction of weapons and ammunition depots, which caused huge explosions that reverberated to Baghouz, located on the other bank of the Euphrates, according to SOHR.
Two days ago, the Khmeimim Air Base in Syria’s coast announced in a statement published by Russian Ministry of Defense that six of the eight Syrian Russian-made Buk and Pantsir missiles were destroyed by Israeli fighters from northern Lebanon to Syria.
Israel has conducted hundreds of air raids on Syria in the last few years on the purpose of preventing Iranian-backed militias to establish bases on the Syrian lands.
