Syrian soldier injured by HTS sniper: Khmeimim

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Russian Reconciliation Center for Syria in Khmeimim air base announced yesterday, that a Syrian soldier was shot by a sniper affiliated with Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS-formerly al-Nusra Front), in Syria’s northwest city of Idlib.

“Terrorist sniper from Kansafra town targeted one Syrian soldier in government positions in Kafranbel,” General Vadim Kulit, deputy Head of the Russian Defense Ministry’s Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides in Syria said.

“The terrorists carried out two operations in the ceasefire areas in Idlib,” he added.

The General pointed out that three Syrian soldiers were wounded as a result of terrorist attacks in the governorates of Latakia, Idlib, and Aleppo.

On November 7, the Russian Reconciliation Center announced militiamen affiliated with HTS launched five attacks in the de-escalation zone in Idlib.

Although the de-escalation zone in northwest Syria is subject to a Russian-Turkish ceasefire agreement signed in March 2020, the area witnesses frequent mutual bombardment despite the entry of the ceasefire into force.
