Unidentified individuals set fire to Autonomous Administration building in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, unknown persons set fire to a building of the Autonomous Administration in a town north of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.

A local source from the town of Abu al-Naytel of al-Suwar district, 70 km north of Deir ez-Zor, told North Press that two masked men, riding a motorcycle, set the local council on fire, which led to the burning of the entire building.

“The council guard had received threats from the masked men, who were carrying weapons, not to move or make any sound, or else they would have killed him, so that they poured gasoline, set fire to, and fled towards the town’s desert,” the source added.

Recently, the SDF and the Global Coalition have intensified their security operations to pursue ISIS sleeper cells in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

ISIS sleeper cells have recently intensified their operations in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, targeting SDF military points and checkpoints.
