Infighting erupts between armed factions in Syria’s Afrin
ALEPPO NORTHERN COUNTRYSIDE, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, three militants were wounded in an infighting erupted between two groups of the Turkish-backed armed opposition factions in Afrin region, north Syria.
Armed clashes erupted between two groups of al-Hamza Division in the village of Jolaqa, west of Afrin city, wounding three militants, North Press reported a special source.
The clashes took place on disputes over olive royalties imposed on the villagers, the source added.
The clashes, which light weapons were used in, extended to al-Mazot Street and al-Vilat neighborhood, in the city of Afrin, amid a state of panic and disorder.
The so called Ala Juneid, the leader in al-Hamza Division, was attacked. The wall of his house in al-Vilat neighborhood was directly fired, according to the source.
It is worth noting that the city of Afrin and its districts have been controlled by Turkey and the affiliated opposition factions since March, 2018.
The Afrin region has been witnessing cases of killing, kidnapping and arrest, in addition to frequent bombings, amid the inability of the factions controlling it to settle the security in the region.
