HTS launched four attacks in Idlib: Russia’s Center for Syria

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Militants of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, formerly al-Nusra Front) conducted attacks on the de-escalation zone in Idlib, northwest Syria, Russian Reconciliation Center for Syria announced in a statement yesterday.

During the past 24 hours, “four attacks were recorded that were launched from posts of al-Nusra Front groups, in the de-escalation zone,” the statement added.

Two attacks were recorded in Aleppo and two in Idlib, according to the statement.

Earlier yesterday, the Russian statement recorded five attacks by the HTS militants.

Early in October, Russian Ministry of Defense announced that Syrian Civil Defense Organization (White Helmets), which is linked to armed factions operating in Syria, are preparing for a provocative operation in Idlib in order to accuse the Syrian government of conducting attacks.

In late October, the Russian Reconciliation Center announced that HTS militants conducted ten attacks in Idlib region.

Although the de-escalation zone in northwest Syria is subject to a Russian-Turkish ceasefire agreement signed in March 2020, the area witnesses frequent mutual bombardment despite the entry of the ceasefire into force.
