Coward drones do not build nations or future: al-Kadhimi

ERBIL, KRG, Iraq (North Press) – Coward drones do not build nations or future, Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi said on Sunday hours after a failed assassination attempt against him.  

Al-Kadhimi called all the political parties to a calm and meaningful dialogue for the sake of Iraq.

Sa’ad Ma’an, head of the Security Media Cell said on the state-run television channel “three drones attacked the place of residence of the PM al-Kadhimi causing injuries to the security guards whom are currently receiving treatment.”

Major world and regional states condemned the assassination attempt, including the US State Department which said “the attack was directed to the heart of the Iraqi state.”

Also, the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) strongly condemned the assassination attempt and expressed relief that al-Kadhimi was not hurt.

In turn, the Saudi Arabian’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed it “stands with the Iraqi people and its government to confront all the terrorists who attempt, in vain, to prevent Iraq from restoring its power.”

Ali Shamkhani, head of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), condemned the failed assassination attempt adding that the attack was a new sedition that must be tracked in “foreign thinking centers” which brought nothing but instability to the Iraqi people.  

“The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) condemned the transgressor assassination attempt against al-Kadhimi. “Iraq’s security is part of GCC countries security,” Nayef Falah al-Hajraf, Secretary General of the GCC said in a statement. 

Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, the president of Egypt, voiced concern over the “heinous assassination attempt” adding he condemned the brutal assassination attempt against PM Mustafa al-Kadhimi, praying to God to save the PM al-Kadhimi and fulfill stability and security to the Iraqi people.
