Al-Sharq University: Cooperation and Solidarity Center is embassy for universities abroad
RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – Founding the Center for Cooperation and Solidarity among the universities of northeastern Syria from a group of academics in the French capital, Paris, is an embassy for universities abroad, Hassan Issa, president of al-Sharq University in Raqqa city, said on Saturday.
On November 2, the Center for Cooperation and Solidarity was established by a group of academics from different countries of the world and includes all scientific disciplines.
According to the presidency of al-Sharq University, the center’s main goal is to support universities and develop the educational and research programs.
Issa told North Press that the center will provide great moral support to students, and there will be university recognitions from other foreign universities, in addition to scientific support for research and curriculum development.
According to a previous statement by the coordinator of universities in northeastern Syria, there were several memoranda of understanding with international universities, including the American Washington State University, the German University of Edinburgh, and the Italian University of Parma.
The university’s presidency believes that this step will enable communication with international companies abroad, such as what happened previously in the universities of Kobani and Rojava, as Dad Medical Company contributed to the development of medical saff in both universities.
As for the studies and research that will be conducted between the al-Sharq University and the Center for Cooperation and Solidarity, no agreement was specified on them, because the center was newly established, according to Issa.
He pointed out that there is a discussion to hold a founding conference soon between the university and a group of academics at the center, to present the views from both sides and lay down a unified plan of action.
Al-Sharq University, which was opened in August in Raqqa, is the fourth in the areas administered by the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria.
There is also Rojava University in the city of Qamishli, Kobani University, while study at Afrin University was suspended after the Turkish-backed Syrian opposition factions took control of Afrin region in late 2018.
