Iran says it frustrates US attempts to pirate oil tanker

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it thwarted a US forces attempt to pirate an Iranian oil tanker in the Sea of Oman.

The US forces tried to transfer the Iranian tanker to another direction but the IRGC conducted an aerial  operation against the US forces and succeed to retreat the oil tanker, Iranian media outlets announced.

On the other hand, Reuters quoted US officials saying the Iranian report was not true and there had been no American attempt to seize a tanker.

The American officials added that in reality, Iranian forces had seized a Vietnamese-flagged oil tanker last month and US naval forces were just monitoring the situation, according to Reuters.
