We try to preclude Turkey’s attack on northeast Syria: Russian ambassador to Iraq

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, Russian ambassador to Iraq, Elbrus Kutrashev, said his country is making its efforts to prevent Turkey from attacking northeast Syria.

The Russian ambassador considered this step [attacking northeast Syria] by Turkey dangerous, adding “while having many disputes with Turkey, we have great coordination at the same time.”

Telling Rudaw TV, Kutrashev said: “We are only exercising the role of a referee. We are making every effort to stop Turkey and prevent it from attacking northeast Syria, because we consider this a very dangerous thing.”

He pointed out, Turkey may plan a new military operation against northeast Syria, but “we have a clear attitude. It is not necessary for this to happen whether in Syria, Iraq or any other country. “We are against the unacceptable outside interference.”

Kutrashev described the demographic change in Afrin as “tragic”.
