Three people injured in government bombing in Syria’ Idlib
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Three people were wounded on Monday in artillery shelling by Syrian government forces on opposition-controlled areas south of Idlib, northwest Syria.
The government forces targeted workers who were picking olive in the town of Kansafra in Zawiya Mountain, south of Idlib, sources of the Civil Defense (White Helmets) of the opposition told North Press.
Three people were wounded as a result, one of them was in a critical condition and was transported to nearby medical points for treatment. Residents’ houses were partially damaged in the bombing, the sources added.
Yesterday, the government forces, stationed at the checkpoints surrounding, targeted the villages of Kafr Ta’al, Kafr Nouran, Tuqad and Kafruma, west of Aleppo, with heavy artillery shells and missiles.
Al-Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room, which includes several factions, bombed the government forces’ sites near the city of Ma’arat al-Nu’man and the outskirts of the towns of Jarada and Khan al-Sebil, south of Idlib, with heavy artillery, opposition military sources told North Press.
The opposition factions managed to repel an advance attempt by the Syrian government forces near the town of Afes in the eastern countryside of Idlib on Monday, sources added.
For months, areas in Syria’s northwest have been witnessing mutual shelling between parties to the conflict in different areas amid news on government military reinforcements to different areas in the region.
Although the de-escalation zone in northwest Syria is subject to a Russian-Turkish ceasefire agreement signed in March 2020, the area witnesses frequent mutual bombardment despite the entry of the ceasefire into force.
