Medicines for cancer patients reach Syria’s Hasakah, Qamishli
HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – Two days ago,39 types of medicines for cancer patients arrived at the centers in Hasakah and Qamishli, northeast Syria, a source of the Syrian Society for the Treatment and Care of Child Cancer, said on Monday.
“About 1,637 children, who are registered in the association for free, receive the medicines alongside with the chemotherapy according to the available capabilities,” he told North Press on the condition of anonymity.
“Through this, we aim at smoothing sufferings and burdens of travel of residents, who were forced to travel to Damascus in order to receive chemotherapy and medicines,” he added.
The Syrian Medical Society was established in 2012 under a licensing decision from the Syrian government’s Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor.
The association has two headquarters, one in the government-held security square in Hasakah and the other is in blood bank center in Qamishli.
“Medicines are secured through donations by residents of Aleppo in order to secure these types of medicine to cancer patients,” he added.
