Rojava University in Syria’s Qamishli celebrates graduating batch of students

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday, Rojava University of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) held a graduation ceremony for its graduating students from all majors for this year in the city of Qamishli, northeast Syria.

The ceremony began with a welcome speech from the co-chair of Rojava University, Abdul-Ilah Mustafa. All the graduating students, their families and the previous  graduating students were invited.

The graduated were granted certificates and cards of excellence by the university presidency and a number of officials in the Autonomous Administration.

“Today, we are celebrating the graduation of a batch from the University of Rojava from all majors,” Mustafa said.  

The graduates were of the following majors: the Faculty of Science, the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, the Faculty of Agricultural Engineering, Petroleum and Petrochemical, and some institutes in the university.

“The number of graduates for this year is approximately 160 students, and about 400 previous graduating students have been invited to the ceremony,” Mustafa added.

They were unable to prepare for the ceremony well due to the spread of coronavirus in the region, according to Mustafa.
