Mutual shelling renews in Syria’s northwest
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Friday, several areas in the countryside of Idlib, Hama and Aleppo witnessed mutual shelling between Syrian government forces and armed opposition Syrian factions, northwest Syria.
The government forces, stationed in Saraqib town, shelled posts of the factions in Sarmin, in the eastern countryside of Idlib, with missiles, sources of the factions told North Press.
Meanwhile, the government forces, stationed in Jurin Camp, conducted a similar shelling on the villages and towns of Sermaniyah, Duwayr al-Akrad, al-Enkawi west of Hama in addition to artillery shelling on the town of Kafr Ta’al, west of Aleppo, according to the sources.
Al-Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room managed to shell military posts of the government forces in the town of Urum al-Kubra, in the western countryside of Aleppo, with artillery.
Additionally, they managed to target the government forces in Saraqib town in the eastern countryside of Idlib.
For months, areas in Syria’s northwest have been witnessing mutual shelling between parties to the conflict in different areas amid news on government military reinforcements to different areas in the region.
Although the de-escalation zone in northwest Syria is subject to a Russian-Turkish ceasefire agreement signed in March 2020, the area witnesses frequent mutual bombardment despite the entry of the ceasefire into force.
