Turkish intelligence abducts three civilians in Syria’s Raqqa countryside

TEL ABYAD, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, Turkish intelligence forces and Turkish-backed armed factions abducted three civilians from the countryside of Tel Abyad region, north of Syria’s Raqqa.

The people were abducted from different towns on separated raids in the dawn, well-informed sources said.

The kidnapped were identified as Ibrahim al-Kadour from Tel Abyad, Muhammad Sayer from Suluk town, and Abdelfawaz al-Hameidi from Hammam Turkman. The latter was arrested previously by armed factions and was released later upon paying the wanted ransom.

The three of them are not affiliated with any political or military parties, the source added.

Last week, Turkish-backed armed factions stormed the house of a blind man from Suluk town and kidnapped him.

The indigenous people of Turkish-controlled Tel Abyad and its outskirts are continuously exposed to kidnapping and blackmail, and are forced to pay a ransom for the exchange of their release.

Since 2019, the Turkish forces, along with their affiliated factions have controlled the city of Tel Abyad and parts of its countryside.

Areas controlled by Turkish-backed factions and supervised by Turkish security and military authorities are witnessing widespread violations and attempts of Turkification, according to local and international reports.
