Turkish-backed faction’s member kills tribal figure in north Syria

ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday evening, a member of the Shammar Tribe Council, Abu Basel al-Shammari, was deadly shot by the brother of the leader of the Turkish-backed al-Hamza Division, in the Bezza’a area, east of Aleppo.

The killer of al-Shammari is Qusay Bolad, brother of Saif Abu Bakr, commander of al-Hamza Division, an informed source told North Press.

The incident occurred as a result of al-Shammari’s demand to close the smuggling routes in al-Sukariya area, adjacent to the areas controlled by the Syrian government forces, east of Aleppo, the source explained.

The victim was directly shot by the killer, which instantly killed him, according to the source.

Al-Hamza Division controls al-Bab area and its environs, in addition to controlling the smuggling crossings with the government forces in al- Sukariya area.

Since 2017, al-Bab city has been under the control of the Turkish-backed armed Syrian factions following Operation Euphrates Shield, which was led by Turkey and Turkish-backed armed factions.

Areas occupied by the Turkish-backed armed factions have been witnessing security chaos accompanied by frequent explosions, in addition to cases of abductions and corruption amid the failure of these factions to maintain security.
