Casualties among Iraqi army, ISIS militants arrested during security operation
ERBIL, KRG, Iraq (North Press) – On Tuesday, seven ISIS members were arrested in several governorates in Iraq, and Iraqi soldier was killed and another wounded during a security operation in Mosul.
A force of the National Security Agency in Baghdad managed to arrest three wanted persons with judicial warrants in accordance with Article (4) of terrorism while they were in areas west of the capital, Iraq’s Security Media Cell announced.
In Anbar governorate, the National Security Agency arrested two ISIS members based on intelligence information, and they confessed to belonging to the so-called “South and Anbar” states, the statement added.
In another statement, the cell said, “The Rapid Response Division of the Ministry of Interior arrested two wanted persons in accordance with the provisions of Article (4 in Tuz Khurma city of Saladin governorate.”
In the same context, an Iraqi soldier was killed and another wounded during a security operation on Tuesday, in the al-Hadar desert south of Mosul, western Iraq.
Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) and the Iraqi army carried out a security operation in the Hadar desert, south of Mosul, the PMF said in a statement.
According to security sources, the soldier was killed when an explosive device planted by members of the Islamic State (ISIS), exploded.
The operation aims at pursuing the remnants of ISIS and secure the Desert from their infiltration.
