IDLIB, Syria (North press) – On Sunday, Russian warplanes renewed bombing Turkish-backed armed factions-controlled areas in Idlib countryside, northwest Syria.
Russian warplanes bombed the western outskirts of the town of al-Kefeir in Jisr al-Shughur countryside, west of Idlib, with high-explosive vacuum missiles, sources of the factions told North Press.
The Russian raids caused partial destruction of public and private properties, while no casualties were reported. Meanwhile, intense flight of Russian and Iranian drones were seen over the region, they added.
Syrian government forces exploited the time of the air raids to start bombing the armed factions’ sites near the towns of al-Sirmaniyah and Duwayr al-Akrad in the Ghab Plain in the western countryside of Hama, according to the sources.
The fortifications of the factions near the Kabbana hills in the Jabal al-Akrad area in the northern countryside of Latakia, were heavily bombed with artillery by the government forces, the sources reported.
For months, areas in Syria’s northwest have been witnessing mutual shelling between parties to the conflict in different areas amid news on government military reinforcements to different areas in the region.
Although the de-escalation zone in northwest Syria is subject to a Russian-Turkish ceasefire agreement signed in March 2020, the area witnesses frequent mutual bombardment despite the entry of the ceasefire into force.
