New batch of Syrian IDPs leaves Hawl Camp to Deir ez-Zor

HAWL CAMP, Syria (North Press) – A new batch of 18 Syrian families, numbering 74 people, left Hawl camp, east of Hasakah, northeast Syria, towards their areas in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, the Hawl Camp Management said on Thursday.

This is the 19th batch under the initiative of the Syrian Democratic Council and the tribal sheikhs to get the Syrians out of the camp.

“Under the Syrian Democratic Council initiative, preparations are being made today to evacuate the 19th batch towards Deir ez-Zor,” Munir Muhammad, an official of the Exit Office of Hawl Camp, told North Press.

“This trip was supposed to consist of 69 families; 285 people, but as a result of technical reasons related to the lack of cars carrying the displaced to take them to their areas, only available cars will be used to transport them,” he said.

About 15,698 families have remained in the camp, a total number of about 57,760 people, according to camp management statistics.

“In the next days or weeks, we will evacuate whoever wants to leave Hawl Camp under the Syrian Democratic Council initiative,” Muhammad added.

On September 15, the 18th batch which was consisted of 92 IDP families in total of 324 persons left the camp.

In October 2020, the Executive Council in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) decided to evacuate Syrian families who wish to leave the camp.
