Israeli airstrike on Syria’s Palmyra kills, wounds soldiers

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Syrian government forces announced the killing of one soldier and the wounding of three others in an Israeli air strike on Palmyra in the Syrian Desert, on Wednesday.

“The attack took place at 23:34 (20:34 GMT), from the al-Tanf area towards Palmyra, targeting a communications tower and some points surrounding it, killing a soldier and wounding three others, in addition to material losses,” a Syrian military source said.

The pro-government SANA news agency reported that the Syrian air defenses intercepted Israeli missiles above Palmyra, whose source was al-Tanf area.

This attack comes just four days after an Israeli bombardment targeted T4 airport in Homs countryside, causing injuries, according to the official SANA news agency.

T4 airport includes 54 hangars, a main runway and two secondary runways, each about three kilometers long.

T4 airport is the largest military airport in Syria, followed by Dumayr Airport, which is located in Dumayr in the Damascus countryside.
