Number of casualties of Syria’s Afrin explosion increases

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, the number of casualties and wounded as a result of a VBIED explosion in produce market in the city center of Afrin, northwestern Syria, has increased to 27.

As a result of the explosion, which took place near the produce market in the city center, four people were killed and six others were wounded as a preliminary outcome without determining the exact toll due to the destruction.

The number of casualties has raised to seven after a young man and a child succumbed to their injuries, according to Syrian Civil Defense Organization (White Helmets).

Meanwhile, the number of wounded has reached 20 including three children, the organization added.

The Afrin region has been witnessing cases of killing, kidnapping and arrest, in addition to frequent bombings, amid the inability of the factions controlling it to settle the security in the region.

The city of Afrin and its villages, north of Aleppo, have been run by Turkish forces and the factions affiliated with them since March 2018.
