Turkish-backed militants arrest civilians in north Syria’s Tel Abyad

AIN ISSA, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, gunmen affiliated with Turkey and Turkish intelligence agents arrested two women and a man in the countryside of the Turkish-controlled region of Tel Abyad, northern Syria.

A source in the town of Ali Bajaliya, 30 km south of Tel Abyad, said that the Turkish intelligence and gunmen of the armed opposition factions arrested two women and a man after raiding their homes in the town with military and armored vehicles.

The source added to North Press that the detainees were Zalikha al-Hassan, 35, Awsh Muhammad, 60, and Tahsin Muhammad Ali, 45, who are from the Albou Assaf clan, and they do not belong to any political or military party.

Residents say that Ali Bajaliya is constantly subjected to raids and arrests on unknown charges, which are likely to be accusations of dealing with the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Autonomous Administration.

On September 27, the Syrian Turkish-backed armed opposition factions and members of the Turkish intelligence arrested two civilians in the same town.

Since 2019, the Turkish forces, along with their affiliated factions have controlled the city of Tel Abyad and parts of its countryside.

Areas controlled by Turkish-backed factions and supervised by Turkish security and military authorities are witnessing widespread violations and attempts of Turkification, according to local and international reports.
