Settlements continue in Syria’s Daraa countryside

DARAA, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, security services of the Syrian government forces started the process of settlements in the region of Inkhil, in the northern countryside of Daraa.

“The government security services established a settlement center to settle conditions of dozens of residents in Inkhil,” a local source told North Press.

“Residents had their conditions settled with the attendance of Russian Military Police (MP), the city notables, and member of People’s Assembly, Frouq al-Hammadi,” the source added.

The source indicated that a number of residents handed over some light weapons.

Inkhil is a key town because it is near from the 15th Brigade, which is affiliated with the government 9th Division.

Until October 3, the status of 239 civilians and 54 soldiers was settled.

These steps come as a continuation of the agreement held in early September between the Central Committee and the government forces brokered by Russia.

Daraa was subjected to a suffocating siege imposed by Iranian-backed factions and the government forces for more than two months. Finally, an agreement was reached between the parties to the conflict brokered by Russia on a ceasefire and the entry of government forces into the besieged neighborhoods.
