Fears of coronavirus outbreak in Syria’s Tel Tamr amid negligence of measures
TEL TAMR, Syria (North Press) – There is lack of health awareness and ignoring the seriousness of coronavirus, where people do not adhere to physical distancing or putting face masks, Dr. Hassan Amin, director of Martyr Legarin Hospital, in the town of Tel Tamr, north of Hasakah, northeastern Syria, said on Thursday.
Amin added that the lack of adherence to the preventative measures is the most important factor for the spread of the virus significantly in the region.
Despite the few cases in the town of Tel Tamr, the markets are witnessing a regular move of the population without adhering to the decisions of the Health Board such as wearing face masks.
Doctors believe that this disregard will lead to an explosion in the number of the infections.
“Unfortunately, we see large gatherings in the streets especially funeral tents, where large numbers of people gather,” Amin noted.
He advised the people to wear face masks as this has an important role in reducing the outbreak of the virus.
“There is a quarantine center in the Martyr Legarin Hospital, as we immediately isolate the suspected cases in the quarantine room,” Amin stated.
He said that there are no medical points for severe cases of the virus in the town, so the infected person is sent to the COVID-19 Hospital in Hasakah. As for normal infections, they are quarantined inside the houses.
