New dialysis center opened in Syria’s AANES-held areas
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) opened a special center for dialysis in the city of Qamishli, northeast Syria.
The opening of the center comes within the plans of the Autonomous Administration through the Health Board in the Jazira Region to develop health services.
“This center was opened after a long study, which was suggested by the townships and the cantons’ councils because of the urgent need for it,” Rojin Ahmad, head of the health committee in Qamishli, said.
“There is an increase in the number of people with kidney disease, and this center covers five districts and 16 towns,” she added.
There is one center that was opened in the city of Derik, far northeast Syria, a while ago, which covers only four districts, in addition to a center affiliated with the Syrian government in the area.
Ahmad stated that the center is equipped with a specialized medical staff, six dialysis devices, blood pressure medications, diluents, analgesics and preservatives, and there is a resuscitation department, a pharmacy, and a laboratory.
