DARAA, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, the settlement process started in the region of Nawa in the western countryside of Daraa, southern Syria, in implementation of the agreement between Syrian government forces and the city’s dignitaries brokered by Russia.
North Press correspondent said that an agreement was signed this morning between the Syrian government and the dignitaries of Nawa region, which stipulates the entry of the government forces into the region and the settlement of the conditions of the wanted persons.
“This morning, the government’s security forces established a center to settle the status of some wanted persons in the Rural Development Center in the region,” local sources told North Press.
The sources added that the security services, accompanied by the Russian MP, entered Nawa and raised the Russian and Syrian flags over the center building where the settlement is taking place.
The settlement will continue until all the wanted persons are settled, and then government-backed military groups will enter to search some houses inside the region.
Nawa region is the largest population center in the countryside of Daraa, with a population of more than 100,000 people.
On September 25, the government forces entered the town of Sahem Golan on the Jordanian border.
These steps come as a continuation of the agreement held in early September between the Central Committee and the government forces brokered by Russia.
Daraa was subjected to a suffocating siege imposed by pro-Iranian factions and the government forces for more than two months. Finally, an agreement was reached between the parties to the conflict under Russian auspices on a ceasefire and the entry of government forces into the besieged neighborhoods.
