SDC, Russian Foreign Ministry discuss Turkish violations in Syria
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, a delegation of the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) and the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) discussed the continuous Turkish violations in Syria with representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation in Moscow.
SDC’s visit followed an unannounced visit by the Syrian President Bashar Assad to Moscow, where he met his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, an SDC delegation headed by President of Executive Committee of the SDC Ilham Ahmed, at an official invitation from the Russian Foreign Ministry, met with representatives of the Russian Foreign Ministry headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Mikhail Bekdanov.
“The meeting, during which they emphasized the political solution for the Syrian crisis according to the UN Resolution 2254 and the need for SDC’s participation in the political process, was positive. Additionally, they tackled the continuous violations by Ankara against Syrian sovereignty,” the SDC’s official account indicated.
“SDC seeks to hold intensive meetings with different international parties of the Syrian issue in order to find a space to end the conflict and start a new transitional phase towards a political solution that should lead to a lasting and stable peace,” the site added.
