Foreign delegation visits Syria’s Raqqa to support industry

RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, member of the Raqqa Chamber of Industry Muhammad Kana’n said that over the past days, a foreign delegation including economic and industrial experts visited Raqqa city, north Syria, to support the industrial sector.

Members of the Raqqa Chamber of Industry and members of NGOs working in the city accompanied the delegation in its visit.

The chamber is one of the NGOs working to be a link between the decisions of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) and its official institutions and the economic and industrial activities in northeast Syria.

“The delegation made a tour to several factories and industrial facilities in Raqqa city and its countryside,” Kana’n added.

“The delegation discussed with the owners of the facilities the most prominent obstacles, and problems they faced during the last period, in order to overcome them.”

The delegation will select 25 factories and an industrial facility to provide with technical and financial support, as an initial step to support the economic reality in Raqqa and other areas of northeast Syria, according to Kana’n.

“If the support is provided, it will be focused on factories that secure more job opportunities or those that produce materials needed to the Raqqa market or other areas.”

Raqqa city and its countryside have many factories and industrial facilities in the fields of food, plastics, chemical industry, and ready-made garments.

The delegation is likely to revisit the factories and industrial facilities in Raqqa and its countryside at the end of September.
