Evacuation of Syrian families from Syria’s Hawl Camp continues

HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, Hawl Camp management said that a new batch of 92 Syrian families are preparing to leave the camp, east of Hasakah, northeast Syria, towards their areas in Raqqa and its villages.

This is the 18th batch of evacuees to leave the camp since the initiative of the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) and tribal sheikhs to evacuate Syrians from the camp.

In October 2020, the Executive Council in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) decided to evacuate Syrian families who wish to leave the camp.

“The new batch consists of 92 families, with a total of 324 people, and they come from Raqqa and its villages,” Munir Muhammad, an administrative official in Hawl Camp’s exit office, told North Press.

“They will leave the camp according to the initiative of the SDC and the decision issued by the Executive Council of AANES,” Muhammad added.

According to the camp statistics, about 16,100 families, a total of about 59,000 people, remain in the camp.

Muhammad indicated that they “evacuated them after completing the procedures verifying their documents.”

With the current batch, the number of families who have left the camp since the initiative of the SDC has reached more than 1,100, or a total of about 4,500 people.
