Russian jets, government forces bomb Turkish-backed factions in Syria’s northwest
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Friday morning, Russian warplanes shelled posts of Turkish-backed armed Syrian factions, as Syrian government forces shelled sites in Zawiya Mountain, south of Idlib, northwest Syria.
Russian warplanes targeted the factions’ posts in the town of Deir Sunbul, south of Idlib, and al-Sheikh Bahe region, in the northern countryside of Idlib, with two airstrikes, military sources from the factions told North Press.
Meanwhile, Syrian government forces stationed in the city of Kafr Nubl targeted the town of Kansafra in Zawiya Mountain in the southern countryside of Idlib.
The government shelling coincided with intensive flight by Russian drones over the area reporting no casualties, according to the same sources.
On Thursday, Russian warplanes conducted two airstrikes on the outskirts of Kansafra in Zawiya Mountain.
Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room said that it managed to foil an advance attempt by the government forces in the village of Fleifel, south of Idlib.
