Russia targets opposition factions in Syria’s Idlib

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, Russian warplanes bombed opposition factions positions in the southern countryside of Idlib, in northwestern Syria.

Russian warplanes targeted the vicinity of Kansafra village, located in the Zawiya Mountain area south of Idlib, with two air raids, opposition military sources told North Press.

Government forces stationed in the city of Kafr Nabl bombed the towns of Kafr Aweed, Sufuhun and Kansafra, located in Zawiya Mountain.

The government bombardment coincided with an intense flight of Russian reconnaissance planes, and no casualties were reported.

Six civilians were wounded on Wednesday-Thursday night due to government forces’ artillery shelling on residential neighborhoods in the city of Ariha, south of Idlib.

Local sources from the city told North Press that after midnight, government forces stationed in Saraqib bombed residential neighborhoods in the city of Ariha with more than six artillery shells.

Six civilians, including a woman, were wounded; two of them were transferred to Bab al-Hawa border hospital due to the seriousness of their condition.

On Tuesday, four people were killed and others were wounded, including children, due to government forces artillery and missile shelling on the neighborhoods of Idlib city.
