Russia targets opposition factions in Syria’s Zawiya Mountain

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, Russian warplanes bombed posts of Turkish-backed armed Syrian factions within the de-escalation zone, and government forces bombed sites of the armed Syrian factions in regions south of Idlib and Hama with artillery and missile shells.

The Russian warplanes targeted the western outskirts of the town of al-Bara, the towns of Kansafra, Urm al-Juz, and the outskirts of the village of al-Rami, located in the Zawiya Mountain, south of Idlib, with ten airstrikes and high-explosive vacuum missiles, military sources from the opposition told North Press.

The bombing wounded a child from al-Rami village who was taken to a medical point for treatment, according to the same sources.

The Russian raids coincided with artillery and missile shelling by the government forces stationed in the city of Kafr Nubl, during which they targeted the towns of al-Fatira and Benin in the same area, the sources added.

The sources indicated that the government forces stationed in the Jorin camp bombed the towns of al-Mishik and al-Qarqur, located in the Ghab Plain in the western countryside of Hama with artillery.

The bombing coincided with an intense flight of the Russian drones over the region.

On Friday, a child was killed and a civilian was wounded in Russian airstrikes targeting farmers working in the fig harvest near the town of Kansafra in Zawiya Mountain.
