Government and opposition continue bomb each other in Idlib, northwest Syria
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday evening, the Syrian government forces continued their artillery and missile shelling on the countryside of Idlib and Hama in northwest Syria, while the Syrian opposition factions bombed the government forces’ positions south of Idlib.
“The government forces, stationed in the town of Kafranbel and its surroundings, targeted points in the towns of al-Fatira, Kafr Oweid, Sfuhun, Kansafra and the outskirts of al-Bara in Zawiya Mountain, with rockets and heavy artillery shells,” military sources of the opposition factions told North press.
“The town of al-Ziyara in the Ghab Plain area was hit by the government bombardment from Jurin Camp in the countryside of Hama,” the sources added.
The bombing caused material damage to the residential areas, according to the same sources.
Responding to the government forces’ bombing, the al-Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room, which includes several factions, announced that it had bombed the positions of the government forces in the city of Kafranbel in the southern countryside of Idlib, with heavy artillery shells.
It also targeted the Ghab Plain area, west of Hama, with missiles and artillery shells.
The de-escalation zone in northwest Syria is subject to a Russian-Turkish ceasefire agreement signed in March 2020; however, the area witnesses frequent mutual bombardment despite the entry of the ceasefire into force.
