Member of Turkish-backed Syrian faction killed over phone theft in Aleppo

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – A member of the Turkish-backed Sultan Murad faction was tortured to death on Monday by the faction’s security forces for stealing a mobile phone in the city of Azaz in the northern countryside of Aleppo.

The young man Mahmoud Muhammad Beg, a member of the Turkish-backed factions, was tortured to death after he stole a phone, according to local sources.

The event met with great popular resentment, amid calls for the killers to be held accountable.

Activists responded to the news of the killing on social media, and one of them said: “The factions are looting everything, and now, because of the theft of a phone, people are being killed.”

“They are looting the country, but for a mobile phone, and he [the thief] may be in need, they kill him,” another posted.

Another added: “They are now honorable and have dignity.”

Turkish-held areas often witness cases of torture of detainees in its prisons.
