Child killed, father wounded by gunmen in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – A girl was killed and her father was wounded on Sunday by unidentified gunmen in a town north of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
A local source from the town of al-Ahmar, north of Deir ez-Zor, told North Press that unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle fired random shots in al-Mahd neighborhood in the center of the town. A girl was killed and her father was wounded while they were in front of their house.
The girl’s father was transferred to a hospital in the city of Hasakah, and he needs an operation to extract the bullet, according to a medical source.
Assassination attempts against members of the Syrian Democratic Forces, employees of the Autonomous Administration institutions, tribal notables, and residents are increasing in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, some of which have been claimed by ISIS.
On Sunday, two unidentified gunmen riding a motorcycle targeted the house of Yasser al-Nawaf, a resident of the same town, with machine guns, without recording injuries, according to a local source.
Al-Nawaf works as a teacher and hails from the city of al-Mayadin, which is held by the Damascus government, east of Deir ez-Zor, west of the Euphrates, the source added.
