Turkish gendarmeries torture young man to death in Syria’s northeast

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, Salar Osman, a resident of Qamishli, northeast Syria, was tortured to death by Turkish gendarmeries as a result of attempting to pass into Turkish territory via a network of smugglers.

As a result of trying to pass into Turkey on August 28, Osman was detained and severely tortured by the Turkish gendarmeries (border guard) before being transferred to a hospital in the city of Qamishli.

The young man’s kidneys failed after he was electrocuted, and he died on Monday morning, according to a source from the hospital.

Turkish gendarmeries frequently kill Syrian civilians on the border. Days ago, Hamadi Abdulhussein, a resident of al-Deshisha, northeast Syria, was killed while he was trying to pass into Turkish territory.

In July, 27-year-old Muhammad Sayd Rassol and 17-year-old Abdulhalim Suleiman, from Girke Lege in the eastern countryside of Qamishli, were tortured by Turkish gendarmeries when they tried to enter to Turkey.

On March 3, a child lost his life as a result of being shot by Turkish gendarmeries while crossing the Syrian-Turkish border with his family.
