DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday, gunmen of the Syrian government forces and Iranian-backed factions targeted a vehicle of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
A military source of the SDF in the town of Jadid Akidat, 20 km east of Deir ez-Zor, said that unidentified gunmen, who were hiding among the houses adjacent to the main road in the town, targeted a military vehicle of the SDF near the municipality building in the town, with machine guns.
The source added that the targeting led to the injury of a number of SDF members who were transferred to the al-Omar Field Hospital.
Immediately after the incident, the SDF brought in military reinforcements and surrounded the town to search for the militants, while government sources adopted the operation.
The official government agency, SANA, said that militants of the “Popular Factions” targeted a joint patrol of the SDF and the US forces in the vicinity of the Koniko gas plant.
