Remnants of war kill child in IDP camp in Syria’s Idlib
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, a child lost his life and his brother was wounded as a result of an explosion of a bomb left over from the war in an IDP camp near the town of Haranabush, north of Idlib, this is the second incident in less than 48 hours.
While picking molokhia, a child found a weird piece of metal and took it with him to his tent in al-Sheikh Mustafa Camp, where his family are residing, and then it exploded, local sources from the region told North Press.
As a result of the explosion child Abdulrahman Mustafa alNayif lost his life and his brother was wounded as IDPs transferred them to al-Sifa’ Hospital near the area, the sources added.
The two children hail from the village of Umm Waylat in Sinjar in the eastern countryside of Idlib.
On Tuesday, two IDP children lost their lives as a result of explosion of a war remnant while they were playing near their camp, north of Idlib.
On Monday, an old man lost his life and other resident of al-Bara town, south of Idlib was wounded as a result of a landmine explosion while they were picking figs near al-Bara town, south of Idlib.
Dozens of civilians have been killed and wounded as a result of unexploded remnants of war following repeated bombing by Syrian government forces on the northern countryside of Idlib, and mines that were planted during the battles in Zawiya Mountain early in 2020.
