Syria’s northwest witnesses mutual shelling

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, areas in the de-escalation zone in Idlib, Hama and Aleppo, northwest Syria, witnessed mutual shelling between Turkish-backed Syrian armed factions and Damascus government forces.

The government forces, from their positions in Kafr Nubl city, shelled the towns of al-Fatira, Sufuhun, and al-Riwayha village in the Zawiya Mountain, south Idlib, with heavy artillery and rockets, a military source working in the opposition-held areas told North Press.

The government forces, from their positions in Miznaz town and Base 46, also bombed the towns of Kafr Nouran and Tiqad, west of Aleppo, the source added.

In Hama, the government forces, stationed in the Jorin camp, bombed the village of Duweir al-Akrad and the outskirts of Sarmaniyah village in the Ghab Plain, west of Hama, the source referred.

The bombing left big material losses to the public and private properties.

The source denied that the Russian warplanes carried out any airstrikes on the outskirts of al-Kabina in Jabal al-Akrad, north of Latakia, stressing that the Russian warplanes was ordered to carry out three airstrikes, but they did not carry out any for reasons that are still unknown.

Meanwhile, a military source in the National Front for Liberation told North Press that the Fateh al-Mubeen Operations Room targeted government forces’ positions in the towns of Miznaz and Kafr Halab, west of Aleppo, with heavy artillery.

Although areas of Idlib, Aleppo, Hama and Latakia, northwest Syria are subjected to the de-escalation agreement, they are witnessing mutual artillery and missile shelling between the armed factions and government forces, interspersed with Russian airstrikes on military sites in the countryside of Idlib and Latakia.
