Landmine exploded in Syria’s Manbij, child died

MANBIJ, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, a landmine of the war remnants against the Islamic State (ISIS), exploded in the countryside of Manbij, northern Syria, killing a child.

A relative of the child in the village of Arab Hassan Kabir, 25 km in the northwestern countryside of Manbij, said that the landmine exploded while the child, Muhammad al-Wardan, 10, was playing with his friends in an agricultural land near the village.

He added that other children who were with Muhammad, said that he threw stones at the mine and so it exploded.

On August 12, 2016 the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Manbij Military Council, with support of the US-led Global Coalition, managed to expel ISIS from Manbij.

On June 26, three children lost their lives and two others were wounded in the explosion of a landmine left behind by ISIS near Tishrin Dam, 20 km southeast of Manbij.
