Civilians killed, wounded by Iran-backed faction in Syria’s Daraa
DARAA, Syria (North Press) – A young man died Tuesday due to wounds he sustained during artillery shelling by Iranian-backed factions in the besieged neighborhoods of Daraa, southern Syria, on Monday.
The neighborhoods of Daraa al-Balad, Tariq al-Sad, and the surrounding camps were subjected to violent bombardment by Iran-backed factions, “which resulted in the killing of 23-year-old Yazan Marwan al-Omari and the wounding of others,” said Adnan Musalema, the official spokesman for the Central Committee in Daraa.
He added that there are six wounded who are in critical condition in light of the closure of the only medical point in the besieged neighborhoods, due to the siege that the area has been witnessing for more than two months.
The shelling focused on the vicinity of the Omari Mosque and the old market in Daraa al-Balad neighborhood, according to Musalema.
This coincided with the arrival of new military reinforcements from government forces and Iranian factions to the region.
The official spokesman for the Central Committee in Daraa indicated that the negotiations are stalled and no agreement has been reached so far.
