Government and opposition exchange bombing in northwest Syria
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday, Syrian government forces renewed their bombardment of the opposition factions’ sites in the southern countryside of Idlib and western Hama, northwest Syria, with missiles and rockets.
Government forces bombed fortifications near the villages and towns of al-Muzarah, Benin, al-Bara and Kansafra in the Zawiya Mountain area, south of Idlib, with artillery shells and rocket launchers, military sources in the opposition factions told North Press.
The bombing resulted in widespread destruction, without information on casualties, the sources added.
The bombing came in tandem with intense flight of warplanes and reconnaissance planes over Idlib, Hama and Aleppo, without recording any air strike, according to the same sources.
Similar government bombardment with heavy artillery targeted opposition factions’ positions near the towns of al-Sirmaniyah and al-Enkawi in the Ghab Plain area in the western Hama countryside, in addition to the town of Taqad, west of Aleppo.
In return’ Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room, which includes Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (formerly al-Nusra Front) and the Army of Glory along with the National Front for Liberation, announced the targeting of government forces’ positions near Kafr Halab and Regiment 46 in the western countryside of Aleppo.
The region is witnessing a military escalation despite the entry into force of the ceasefire agreement signed between Russia and Turkey in March of last year 2020.
