Asayish member killed in attack in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor countryside

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Friday, an official of the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) lost his life as a result of an attack by unidentified armed men on his house in the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor, east Syria.

Eight unidentified armed individuals, who were riding four motorbikes, stormed the house of the official Ayman al-Azba “Abu Mahyar” in the city center, a source from the Asayish in the town of al-Bu Shames, 45 kilometers west of Deir ez-Zor, said.

The armed individuals, who are suspected of belonging to the Islamic State (ISIS), fired at the official while he was with his family killing him immediately, the source cited a close source of the family as saying.

Witnesses said that the armed individuals are not from the town and they exited the town shouting ISIS slogans.

Hours after killing the official, ISIS claimed, through close media outlets, responsibility for the attack.

Recently, villages in Deir ez-Zor have witnessed large-scale assassinations against Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), employees of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), notables, and civilians, with ISIS claiming responsibility for most of them.

Two days ago, four SDF members lost their lives and three others were wounded in two separate explosions in both eastern and western countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
