Executive Council of Syria’s Jazira condemns Turkish attacks on Zargan, Tel Tamr
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Friday, the Executive Council of Jazira Region of the Autonomous Administration in North and East Syria (AANES) condemned, in a statement, the latest Turkish attacks on the towns of Zargan (Abu Rasin) and Tel Tamr, northeast Syria, and called on the international community and mediators to break their silence and act to halt “the crimes that Turkey is committing.”
On Tuesday, a child and a woman lost their lives and others were wounded as a result of the Turkish shelling of the town of Zargan and several surrounding villages in northeast Syria.
About 15 people, including children, were wounded, and six of them were transferred to People’s Hospital in Hasakah while the other wounded were transferred to hospitals in Derbasiya and Amuda.
On Thursday, a Turkish warplane shelled the military relations headquarters of the Tel Tamer Military Council of Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
As a result of the shelling, an official and three fighters lost their lives.
“The successive Turkish attacks are a blatant violation of international law and conventions, and also of the agreements signed between Russia and America regarding cessation of hostilities,” the statement said.
These attacks are taking place at a time when AANES is seeking to work with all parties to reach a solution to the Syrian crisis and end Syrians’ sufferings.
The statement called on the Syrian government to assume its responsibilities in defending Syrian sovereignty.
On Thursday, hundreds of residents of the northern countryside of Hasakah participated in a sit-in in front of the Russian military base in the town of Tel Tamr denouncing the frequent Turkish bombing of the area.
