Four children killed in Syrian government shelling of opposition-held areas

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Four children lost their lives on Friday morning due to government forces’ bombing of the town of Kansafra in Idlib countryside, northern Syria.

Military sources in the opposition said that the government forces bombed the positions of the opposition factions in the villages and town of Kansafra in 

Zawiya Mountain with artillery shells and rocket launchers,

which resulted in the loss of four children’s lives and wounding of others.

The government bombardment also targeted the villages of Sufuhun, Benin, al-Fatira , Shannan, in the southern countryside of Idlib.

The government bombardment coincided with raids by Russian warplanes on opposition factions’ positions in the vicinity of Qurqania and Dersita villages in the northern countryside of Idlib,  according to the sources.

The sources added that the government forces in the countryside of Aleppo bombed with heavy artillery the opposition factions’ positions in the town of Kafr Noran, wounding two children, who were transferred to medical points for treatment.

Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room, which includes Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, the National Front for Liberation, the Army of Glory (Jaish al-Izza), and other factions, heavily bombed positions of the Damascus government forces in Hanotin and Tarmala townsin the southern countryside of Idlib, the sources added.

The military escalation between the government forces and the armed opposition groups comes despite the passage of more than a year of the ceasefire entry into force.
