Explosions target SDF in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor, casualties reported
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, four members of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) died and three others were wounded in two explosions that targeted two military vehicles in the eastern and western countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
A local military source in the town of al-Kiber, 70 km west of Deir ez-Zor, said that an explosive device that was planted near the river crossing road in the town, exploded in an H1 Hyundai van carrying SDF soldiers.
The explosion led to the killing of three members and the injury of two others, who were transferred to a field hospital in the town.
A doctor at the hospital told North Press that the injured needed surgery.
The explosion in al-Kiber coincided with another IED explosion of an SDF vehicle on the main road in the town of Daranj, 65 km east of Deir ez-Zor.
A military source of the SDF in the town said that one of their members lost his life and another was wounded as a result of the explosion.
The injured was transferred to al-Omar field Hospital for treatment.
On August 17, unidentified gunmen riding a motorcycle opened fire at a member of the SDF when he was leaving the headquarters of his job in the town of al-Busaira, east of Deir ez-Zor.
Recently, the Deir ez-Zor countryside has witnessed an increase in assassination attempts against members of the Syrian Democratic Forces, employees of the Autonomous Administration institutions, clan dignitaries, and civilians of the region, some of which have been claimed by ISIS.
