Russia warplanes target opposition sites in Syria’s Idlib
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, Russian warplanes bombed opposition factions’ sites in Idlib, northwest Syria, while the countryside of Hama and Idlib witnessed a continuation of mutual shelling between the factions and government forces.
A military source of the factions told North Press that the Russian warplanes targeted the Ain Sheib area, southwest of Idlib, with several air raids and high explosive missiles, without reports of casualties.
The source added that the Russian raids coincided with intense shelling by the opposition factions on the positions of the government forces in the Idlib and Hama countryside, “in response to the massacre committed by the regime forces in the town of Balshon this morning.”
This morning, the Syrian government forces bombed the town of Balshon in Zawiya Mountain area, south of Idlib, killing five civilians, including a woman and her three children.
The source indicated that the bombing targeted government forces’ positions in the Jurin camp and the villages of Ain Salimo, al-Bahsa, al-Baraka, and the camp in Ghab Plain, west of Hama.
Similar artillery shelling targeted government forces’ positions in the city of Kafr Nabl, the town of Hazarin and al-Dar al-Kabira in Zawiya Mountain, south of Idlib.
In the meantime, the Syrian government forces continued their artillery and missile bombardment on the villages and towns of al-Fatira, Kafr Oweid, Sfuhun, Deir Sunbul, Benin, al-Bara and al-Ruwaiha in Zawiya Mountain.
