Turkish-backed faction arrests Kurdish women in Syria’s Afrin
AFRI, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, Turkish-backed armed al-Amshat faction arrested two Kurdish women after they returned from Lebanon to their village in the northern countryside of Afrin, northwest Syria.
“Militants of the faction arrested 25-year-old Delvin Jamil Osman and her 20-year-old sister Fatimah after they returned from Lebanon to their village of Qermeltiq in Afrin countryside,” a local source told North Press.
The faction demanded parents of the two women, whose fate is still unknown, a ransom of 4,000 US dollars in turn for releasing them and having their conditions settled, the source added.
Meanwhile, a Turkish-backed armed faction in the Turkish-controlled city of Afrin, northwest Syria, imposed a large sum of money of $2,000 on Afrin IDPs in turn for their return to their homes in Afrin.
Turkey with the support of Turkish-backed Syrian factions launched a military operation against Afrin and its countryside in 2018 displacing more than 300,000 people towards areas in the northern countryside of Aleppo, according to Human Rights Organization in Afrin.
