Hayat Tahrir al-Sham storms IDP camp in Syria’s Idlib

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, two patrols of security forces affiliated with Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, formerly al-Nusra Front) stormed an IDP camp in the northern countryside of Idlib, northwest Syria.

Several vehicles loaded with dozens of HTS militants stormed Khair al-Sham Camp near the town of Killi, north of Idlib, local sources from the camp told North Press.

HTS militants fired indiscriminately, causing panic among the IDPs of the camp as they hit a 65-year-old woman and arrested three men, the sources added.

HTS militants threatened with arrest those who tried to block the patrol, the sources indicated.

However, some IDPs blocked the HTS security patrol and pelted two cars with stones while the militants were inspecting some tents and firing indiscriminately to terrify the residents.

Meanwhile, HTS justified their action by saying that they were searching for three wanted individuals from the town of Kafr Rumah, south of Idlib, residing in the camp.

On Saturday, the HTS general security apparatus arrested and beat three individuals for owning small stalls in al-Sa’a Square in the city center of Idlib, claiming that they violated the law.
